Last Saturday evening on Walking Street, Sisowath Quay, felt like a turning point. On May 2nd, the riverside wasn’t just a backdrop for another ceremony; it was the staging ground for a much-needed shift in how we present Cambodia to the world.




Alongside Jesse McCaul and the GMC team, I joined H.E. Minister Huot Hak, Madame Song Thida, and industry leaders like Neak Oknha Vattanac Sam Ang to launch the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season 2026” campaign. Seeing the diplomatic corps, local and international influencers, and a variety of players from the private sector gathered in a public space like the Walking Street, Chaktomuk signaled that the “Solidarity Season” has officially begun.






We need to stop apologizing for the rain. To be in Cambodia right now is to see the Kingdom in high definition. The dust of the dry season is gone, replaced by vibrant emerald landscapes that are usually hidden.




For travelers, the logic is simple. The temperatures have dropped, creating a natural air conditioning that makes exploring the temples or the capital a very comfortable experience. More importantly, the crowds have thinned. You can stand before the Bayon in near-silence, experiencing the monuments with near exclusivity. This is a premium experience being offered at a seasonal discount, and we should be shouting about it.


To my peers in the private sector: the era of the “silo” is over. For too long, we have operated in isolation, waiting for the Ministry to bring the guests so we can lure them to our businesses. That approach doesn’t scale.
The presence of figures like Vattanac Sam Ang at the launch proves that the biggest players are ready for a unified front. We should be creating “Green Season Bundles”—partnerships where hotels, logistics providers, and local artisans move as one. When we bundle our services, we aren’t just selling a room or a ticket; we are providing a frictionless journey through the Kingdom. This collaboration builds resilience for all of us.


GMC is doubling down on this vision. We are currently building a new digital hub to bridge the gap between quality Khmer craftsmanship and the people who want it.
This isn’t only for the tourist on the ground. We are creating a pipeline for those abroad—whether you are a retail shopper looking for an authentic piece of Cambodia or a business looking for OEM manufacturing and high-quality local supply chains. We want “Made in Cambodia” to be a global standard.
The Green Season is the time when Cambodia is at its most fertile and productive. It’s time our business strategies reflected that.
